Sitting on the River Avon, Stratford-upon-Avon is known for its historic centre, which has homes and buildings that are centuries old, including thatched houses. Wandering around the market town can feel like being in a time machine at points, but then you’re out onto a bustling high street with modern eateries, upmarket stores, and buzzing pubs with punters spilling out into patios and beer gardens. 

Stratford-upon-Avon is also undoubtedly a cultural hub, home to incredible theatres, as well as community events throughout the year. Local schools benefit from this incredible access, and education options are varied, with well rated state schools and brilliant fee-paying options available.

Because of its link to Shakespeare, the town sees a lot of visitors, which means excellent transport infrastructure. Birmingham is less than an hour by car and under 40 minutes by train, and local road links can get you anywhere you need in the surrounding area. There are also local buses that go out to nearby parishes.

As lovely as it would be for everyone in Stratford-upon-Avon to live in a centuries-old thatched building, housing options in the town are more varied than that. There are plenty of historic options both in town and in the surrounding village and hamlets, like Wilmcote and Binton, although you’ll definitely get more space in those latter areas. There are also new builds, mid-century homes, and other more modern choices.
