The archetypal Cotswold Manor House

The Manor House is Listed Grade II*. It is believed to originally date from the Jacobean period, although with later additions and alterations. The house has much better proportions than most Cotswold houses of its period, with good ceiling heights and plenty of large windows, making the rooms light and bright. The accommodation is conveniently laid out for both entertaining and modern family living. To either side of the front door are the drawing and dining rooms, with an impressive galleried staircase beyond. The west-facing kitchen/breakfast room is a good size and there is also a separate sitting room and a study.

On the first floor are 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (two of which are en suite), and 2 further bedroom suites on the second floor. A wing of the house is arranged a self-contained one bedroom flat, although it can easily be incorporated within the main house if preferred.

This property has 16.93 acres of land.

Outside

To the rear of the house is a detached Garden Room. An impressive 34 feet in length, it has a high vaulted ceiling and a huge fireplace. It is ideal for parties or as a games room. Glazed double doors open up onto a south facing terrace and a croquet lawn. The main entrance to the house is through impressive pillars and wrought iron gates, leading past clipped yews to the front door. A separate driveway to the north leads around to the side of the house with a gravelled turning circle around a fine walnut tree. Beyond is a double garage with two stables adjoining. The gardens have great charm and provide a very suitable setting for the house. The croquet lawn is bordered by high yew hedges and leading off is a small rose garden enclosed by beech hedges. To the south of the house is a pretty gravelled area edged by a rose covered arbour. To the west of the house is an orchard with a hard tennis court to one side. Opposite the main entrance are two flat paddocks, (about 4.7 acres in all), bordered by an area of mature woodland.
