Reasons to move to Cranleigh

Nestled in the sweeping greenery of Surrey, Cranleigh is a countryside dream.

That’s not to say the bucolic settlement (sometimes referred to as the largest village in Britain) is so tucked away that nothing happens there. Quite the contrary: the local high street is jam packed with upmarket restaurants, charming cafes, and plenty of chic local boutiques and artisan gift stores. It’s also a short, easy drive from busy Guildford, so you’re never too far from having everything you need in terms of day-to-day amenities.

Although it’s small, you don’t have to leave Cranleigh to get your culture fix. The local Arts Centre is popular and puts on plenty for residents to enjoy. There are also a number of different festivals, fairs, and other local events during the year, fostering a real sense of community spirit.

Active types looking to move here will be happy to know that Cranleigh is surrounded by excellent biking and cycling paths, with the local Knowle Park a treasure chest of cute scenery and walking routes for all levels. There’s also a busy Leisure Centre where you can keep active without having to brave the elements.

Cranleigh doesn’t have much public transport, but a regular bus goes to Guildford where you can connect to London. Drivers will be pleased to know the local roads are well maintained, so if you have a car then you’ll be able to really benefit from everything Craneligh offers.

The local schools are well rated, and there are also plenty of other educational options in the surrounding catchment area. Housing is mostly for families and older professionals, generally consisting of country cottages, large family homes, and converted farmhouses. With that said, there are some new builds and other more modern options to look at too.

Can’t wait to move to Cranleigh? At Strutt & Parker we can get you into your new home with minimal fuss, so you can focus on enjoying everything this wonderful village has to offer.

What our clients are saying

  • We had been looking for our ideal farmhouse in the Surrey hills for over six months. Holly Pearn, at S&P Guildford, realised that we would shortly be a cash buyer which her client would value. She also established that both we and our client would honour our initial offer - the asking price. Unfortunately, our exchange was frustrated by CV. However, Holly’s colleague, Jackie Knights has been amazingly supportive to both her client and ourselves in managing our expectations while ensuring that all parties in the chain remain committed. Thanks to both of you!
  • Thank you to the team at Strutt & Parker for all their advice and support during our recent house move. They were personable, professional and helpful throughout the whole process making good recommendations along the way. Hopefully we won’t be moving anytime soon but if we do, we know who we would go back to.
  • I have had fantastic service from all the team at Strutt & Parker's Guildford office. They have marketed our house well and always given helpful feedback on viewings. I would definitely recommend them to friends wanting a good estate agent.
