We are Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) Lead Assessors and can help you prepare for your ESOS return or to implement measures arising from your ESOS.

The Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) is the UK’s implementation of a European directive on energy efficiency. It requires that all businesses employing more than 250 staff or with a balance sheet greater than €43 million and a turnover greater than €50 million submitted a report to the environment agency by the 5th December 2015. An extension was given to the 29th January 2016.

The ESOS report required qualifying businesses to undertake an assessment of all their energy used in a 12 month period and also to have a Lead Assessor undertake a review of the energy used in their property, transport and processes.

We have qualified ESOS Lead Assessors in our Energy Team who worked with a number of clients during 2015 to implement and report to the Environment Agency to comply with the deadline.

The ESOS scheme continues and is quite likely to form the basis of further energy policy reviews over the next year. We already know that ESOS will have to be repeated for reporting in December 2019 and with current rules under the scheme it is possible to carry out assessments each year between now and 2019 and therefore split the work required. We can help clients design systems to ensure they are ready for 2019 and collecting all of the data by when it is expected that the requirements will be more stringent than those for 2015.

We also recommend that clients who had an ESOS report undertaken in 2015 consider the opportunities that were identified in the report. Our Energy Team is able to assist in implementing measures that were recommended in your ESOS report.
