Consuming locally grown produce also has environmental benefits with shorter 'field to fork' travel distances - fresher food also tastes better.

Farmers' market also promote eating seasonally available produce. As we leap into those chilly autumn days, brussels sprouts, pumpkins and wild mushrooms come into season, which you will see heaps of in your local farmers' market.
