Land management

The Land Management Department has been at the heart of the Strutt & Parker business since the partnership was formed by two former school friends, Charles Strutt and Edward Parker to manage land in Essex.

That was in 1885. 125 years later, our rural property consultants now manage 1.5 million acres of land and have 150 experts across the length and breadth of the UK, working with over 450 clients on 600 estates.

Today the department is headed up by James Farrell and provides clients with a strategic business and management service for their estates. The role of a Strutt & Parker land agent is often akin to that of a CEO, drawing on expertise and services within the team covering all aspects of land/ estate management, farm management, planning, development, building surveying, sporting, expert witness and accountancy.

The team is backed up by a specialist research group, led by Ross Houlden, whose responsibility it is to assemble the very latest legal and technical briefings, case law and relevant case studies, together with comparable evidence in 25 fields of expertise. The resulting invaluable database is accessible from every consultant's desk.
